Vienna 7 - 10 May 2009

Committed to people

We are pleased to invite you to the 11th Congress of the European Association for Palliative Care, to be held in Vienna 7 - 10 May 2009.

Vienna is a melting-pot of different cultures and people, situated in the centre of Europe and a communication point between East and West. We wish to use this unique situation to facilitate discussion of various view points and developments within the areas of medical, social, ethical, political, economic and other areas, while focusing primarily on patient care, which is the centre of palliative care. The last congresses of the European Association for

Palliative Care in Aachen and Budapest have shown the international reputation of the EAPC as reaching far beyond Europe .

The Congress in Vienna will build on this reputation and experience while expanding it even further. The International Association for Hospice and Palliative Care (IAHPC), Help the Hospices, ESMO, IPOS and other Pan National Associations will be invited to join in the preparation for this Congress, confirming again that this congress is the foremost international conference on palliative care. Results from the Budapest Commitments, a two-year campaign of advocacy with national associations, will be presented in Vienna , a sign indicating a new joint venture in palliative care for patients, relatives, and caregivers.
