Continuous education in palliative care for health professionals in Luxemburg [Íîâîñòü äîáàâëåíà - 11.06.2008] Continuous education in palliative care for health professionals in Luxemburg I would thank the members of the Palliative Nursing Education Task force for the magnificent job in elaborating a «Guide to the Development of Palliative Nurse Education in Europe» Since autumn 2005, I am in charge of developing continuous education for health professionals in palliative care in Luxemburg. Omega 90 is the Luxemburg Association of Palliative Care, and we offered since 1993 a 120 hours palliative care course. I first analysed this course and compared it to the EAPC guide, and found all essential elements. I was asked to build up several levels of palliative care courses for health professionals and so the model you propose was of great support. We now offer: We based the objectives of each of the courses on the EAPC-guide including our national situation. All the courses are agreed as continuous professional development by the Ministry of Health. As we are a little country with a lot of foreign employees, even in care, we offer all these courses in Luxemburgish with German documents and in French with French documents. The volunteers, accompanying people at the end of life, are also educated in 140 hours, the objectives are also partially based on the EAPC guide.
