WORLD HOSPICE & PALLAITIVE CARE DAY – 9 OCTOBER 2010
World Hospice and Palliative Care Day (9 October 2010) is a unified day of action to celebrate and support hospice and palliative care around the world. The theme for 2010 is “Sharing the Care” and the ICPCN would like to add its voice to the many others around the world calling on hospice services, in particular those for children, to create partnerships with organisations within their communities already providing care and support to vulnerable children and those with life limiting and life-threatening conditions.
“Children throughout the world deserve the relief from suffering that comes from the provision of good quality palliative care. This cannot be accomplished by one organisation alone, but requires collaboration and a willingness to share resources, time, knowledge and expertise. The 2010 World Hospice & Palliative Day theme of “Sharing the Care” brings into focus this essential aspect of good palliative care wherever you are in the world and underscores everything we do as the ICPCN,” says Joan Marston, ICPCN Chair.
