New WHO guide on palliative care services for people living with advanced cancer
5 OCTOBER 2007 | GENEVA -- WHO today releases its first guide on planning palliative care services for people living with advanced stages of cancer. The guide, which is based on consultations with more than 70 leading cancer experts in the world, has identified highly effective low-cost public health models to care for terminally ill cancer patients, especially in developing countries.

Radiofrequency ablation can extend the lives of patients with inoperable liver metastases from colorectal cancer
Radiofrequency ablation---a technique that involves inserting a special needle electrode into tumours to destroy them through heat from the inside---may help improve survival for patients with liver metastases from colorectal cancer whose lesions are unresponsive to chemotherapy and too widespread for surgery, according to an observational study reported in the Annals of Surgery.
