Newton Fellowships [Новость добавлена - 29.06.2008]
The British Academy, Royal Academy of Engineering and Royal Society have just launched a new fellowship scheme to attract emerging researchers (up to 6 years after completion of their PhD) to do research in the UK for up to 2 years.
Dear colleagues,
All topics in natural and social sciences, engineering and humanities, and all nationalities (besides British) are eligible. Applicants must not live in the UK at the time of application.
The Fellowship will consist of Ј24,000 subsistence and up to Ј8,000 research expenses per annum, and Ј2,000 relocation expenses for the duration of the award. In addition, host universities will receive 50% of the annual value of the Fellowship as a contribution towards their overhead costs (total value Ј99,000 + inflationary increase).
As part of the package, all Newton Fellows who remain in research will be granted 10 year follow-up funding worth Ј6,000 per annum to keep in contact with the UK host institution.
Applications need to be made jointly by the fellow and the UK researcher on an electronic form, and need to be submitted via the UK host institution. The Oxford Institute of Ageing (OIA) at Oxford University would like to act as a host for a Newton Fellow and invites expressions of interest, including your CV plus a short research proposal of the research you intend to carry out during your stay in Oxford (maximum 8,000 characters). Ideally, you would also make reference to your current and future research interests, including potential benefits from your stay at the OIA.
We would like to hear from eligible candidates as soon as possible, and by 13 July at the very latest. You will be notified of your success (or not) within a week after that deadline. As the application requires some joint preparation between the applicant and the host institution, we would need some time before the submission deadline to the British Academy, Royal Academy of Engineering and Royal Society (4 August 2008).
